Abstract
Masovna upotreba fosilnih goriva opterećena je energetskom neovisnosti EU, ekološkim posljedicama te samim rezervama. Neobnovljivost, cijena i negativan utjecaj na okoliš dovode u pitanje racionalnost korištenja takvih goriva. Suprotnost tome su obnovljivi izvori energije među kojima je biomasa. Neke energetsko iskoristive kulture su Sida hermaphrodita, Miscanthus x giganteus te Arundo donax. Jedna od mogučnosti iskorištenja biomase je njeno rasplinjavanje. Rasplinjavanje s energetskog gledišta je kemijski proces pretvaranja neke krute ili tekuće tvari na primjer ugljena, biomase i sličnih tvari u plin. Osnovni proces rasplinjavanja sastoji se od sušenja, toplinske razgradnje organske tvari ili pirolize, djelomičnog izgaranja plinova, para i ugljena iz biomase i rasplinjavanja ostataka. Sama piroliza kao najvažniji proces u rasplinjavanju se odvija na visokoj temperaturi uz dovedenu toplinu bez prisutnosti kisika i vode nakon koje dobivamo dva proizvoda bioulje i biougljen. Cilj ovog istraživanja je utvrditi mogućnost korištenja energetskih poljoprivrednih kultura kao sirovine za izravno izgaranje, odnosno utvrditi potencijal primjene procesa pirolize upravo s ciljem proizvodnje biulja te biougljena kao energenta.

The widespread use of fossil fuels is burdened with the EU energy independence policy, environmental effects and fuel reserves. Non-renewability, price and impact on the environment question the rationality of such fuel use. Renewable energy is the opposite of it and includes biomass usage. Some energy usable crops are Sida hermaphrodita, Miscanthus x giganteus and Arundo donax L. One of the possibilities of biomass utilization is its gasification. Gasification in energy point of view is chemical process of converting some solid or liquid substances such as coal, biomass and similar substances into gas. Basic gasification process consists of drying, thermal degradation of organic matter or pyrolysis – partial gas, vapours and carbon combustion from biomass and gasification residues. Pyrolysis itself, as the most important process of gasification, takes place at high temperature with induced heat in the absence of oxygen and water. Two main products of pyrolysis are bio-oils and bio-char. The aim of this study is to determine the possibility of using energy crops as feedstock for direct combustion, or to determine the potential application of pyrolysis process to produce bio-oil and bio-char as fuel.
