Abstract
Nicanje sjemena u poljskim uvjetima je pod utjecajem velikog broja čimbenika. Promjenjivost njihova utjecaja na nicanje sjemena ovisi prije svega o dubini na kojoj se sjeme nalazi u tlu. Europski mračnjak (Abutilon theophrasti Med.) zbog svojih značajki i prilagodbi na okolišne uvjete, možemo naći i na većim dubinama u tlu zbog čega je njegovo suzbijanje otežano. Cilj ovog rada bio je utvrđivanje nicanja tretiranog (skarificiranog) i netretiranog (naturalnog) sjemena mračnjaka tijekom dvije godine istraživanja u poljskim uvjetima na različitim dubinama sjetve (3, 6 i 9 cm). Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da i dubina i tretman značajno utječu na nicanje sjemena mračnjaka, ali i da se ukupno nicanje značajno razlikuje po istraživanim godinama. Ukupno nicanje proporcionalno opada s porastom dubine dok učinak tretmana na nicanje ovisi o pedoklimatskim uvjetima tijekom godine.

Seed germination is influenced by numerous environmental factors in the field conditions. Variability of their influence on final germination depends mostly on seed depth. Due to its characteristics, velvetleaf can germinate even in greater seed depths, which causes difficulties in their control. The aim of this study was monitoring scarified and non-scarified velvetleaf seeds in field conditions on different seed depths (3, 6 and 9 cm) during 2 years of research. Results indicate that even seed depth and treatment can significantly influence velvetleaf seed germination, more so cumulative velvetleaf germination differ significantly between years. Cumulative germination decreases proportionally with depth, while effect of treatment depends on agricultural conditions during the year.
