Abstract
Poljoprivrednicima nije lako izabrati „najbolji“ hibrid kukuruza za svoju proizvodnju jer se na tržištu nudi više od 100 hibrida različitih sjemenskih kuća. Nadalje, u Hrvatskoj proizvođači iz različitih razloga često ne uspiju ostvariti optimalne (preporučene) gustoće sklopa. Dosadašnja istraživanja ukazuju da se hibridi kukuruza mogu međusobno razlikovati u svojim reakcijama na različite gustoće sklopa. Stoga je glavni cilj rada bio utvrditi prinos i glavne komponente prinosa introduciranih hibrida kukuruza proizvedenih u optimalnoj (preporučenoj) i rijetkoj (reduciranoj) gustoći sklopa. Jednogodišnji pokus proveden je na pokušalištu Šašinovec Agronomskog fakulteta u Zagrebu. U pokusu je bilo uključeno ukupno osam introduciranih hibrida kukuruza koji pripadaju različitim sjemenskim kućama (P9911, P0216, LG 3475, BERGXXON, CADIXXIO, Konfites, DKC 5401, DKC 5276). Hibridi kukuruza uzgojeni su u dvije gustoće sklopa i to: 1) optimalna (preporučena od strane sjemenske kuće) i 2) rijetka (za 40% niža od preporučene) u uvjetima intenzivne agrotehnike. Dvofaktorijalni (hibrid i gustoća sklopa) poljski pokus postavljen je po strip-plot rasporedu u tri ponavljanja. Standardnim agronomskim metodama utvrđeni su prinos zrna, sadržaj vode u zrnu u berbi, te glavne komponente prinosa zrna (broj klipova i masa 1000 zrna). Gustoća sklopa nije utjecala na sadržaj vode u zrnu u berbi koji je u prosjeku iznosio 19,6%. Istraživani hibridi su se međusobno značajno razlikovali za sadržaj vode u zrnu u berbi. Utvrđena je statistički neznatna, ali apsolutno velika razlika u prosječnom prinosu zrna između preporučene (11802 kg/ha) i rijetke (9972 kg/ha) gustoće sklopa. Svi istraživani hibridi su imali sličan kapacitet rodnosti u danim agroekološkim i organizacijsko tehnološkim uvjetima, što ukazuje na relativno male razlike u genetskom potencijalu rodnosti modernih introduciranih hibrida različitih sjemenskih kuća.

Farmers have a difficult task to choose the "best" maize hybrid for their production because the market offers more than 100 hybrids from various seed producers. Furthermore, for various reasons maize producers in Croatia often fail to achieve the optimal (recommended) plant density at harvest. Previous studies showed that maize hybrids may differ in their responses to plant density populations. Therefore, the main objective of my study was to determine the grain yield and main yield components of the introduced maize hybrid produced at optimal (recommended) and low (reduced) plant populations. Field experiment was conducted on the experimental field Šašinovec of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Zagreb. A total of eight introduced maize hybrids belonging to different seed companies (P9911, P0216, LG 3475, BERGXXON, CADIXXIO, Konfites, SCC 5401, SCC 5276) were tested. Maize hybrids were grown at the optimal (recommended) and low (40% lower than recommended) plant populations under intensive crop management. A two-factorial (hybrid and plant density) field trial was designed as a strip-plot with three replicates. Standard agronomic methods were used to determine grain yield, grain moisture at harvest, and the main yield components (number of ears per unit area and 1000-grain weight). Plant density did not affect grain moisture at harvest, which averaged 19.6%. Tested hybrids had different response for grain moisture at harvest. There was a statistically non-significant, but absolutely large difference in grain yield between the optimal (11,802 kg/ha) and low (9972 kg / ha) plant populations. All tested hybrids achieved similar grain yields in the given agro-ecological environment under intensive production system, indicating the relatively small differences in grain yield potential for modern introduced hybrids from various seed companies.
