Abstract	Stereotipi i predrasude izokrenuta su mišljenja o određenim pojavama ili osobama. Vrlo često se generaliziraju te se kao takvi šire velikom brzinom. Istraživanja pokazuju da su predrasude i stereotipi često prisutni i u medijima (Kanižaj, 2006). Među njima osobito se ističu etnički stereotipi. Kako su mediji ti koji obliku javno mnijenje, oni trebaju djelovati i na suzbijanju stereotipa. Podrobnim izvještavanjem o manjinama ruše se dugogodišnji stereotipi. Sama razina demokratske političke kulture procjenjuje se s obzirom na odnos prema etničkim manjinama (Kanižaj, 2006: 13). Zbog toga je vrlo važno istraživanje o etničkim manjinama jer ih se puno puta predstavlja u medijima kao drukčije, tj. uz čestu upotrebu predrasuda i stereotipa (Kanižaj, 2006: 14).
Abstract (english)	Stereotypes and prejudices give distorted views on certain events or people. Very often they are generalized and as such spread rapidly. Research shows that the prejudices and stereotypes are often presented in the media (Kanižaj, 2006: 13). Among them, ethnic stereotypes stand out in particular. Since it is up to the media to shape public opinion, they should work on eradicating stereotypes. Detailed reports on minorities demolish the long-standing stereotypes. The level of democratic political culture is assessed by taking the treatment of ethnic minorities into account (Kanižaj, 2006: 13). Therefore, it is very important to do research and reports on ethnic minorities because they are many times portrayed in the media differently, with frequent use of prejudice and stereotypes (Kanižaj, 2006: 14).
