Abstract
Dijabetes tipa 2 je metabolički poremećaj kojeg karakterizira kronična hiperglikemija zbog poremećaja sekrecije inzulina. Hiperglikemija potiče povećani rad mitohondrija te dolazi do povećanog nakupljanja reaktivnih kisikovih tvari koji uzrokuju oksidativni stres. S ciljem određivanja markera oksidativnog stresa i utjecaja lijekova liraglutida i metformina na aktivnost antioksidativnih enzima, kod dijabetičnih i pretilih štakora soja Sprague-Dawley, mjerena je aktivnost katalaze (CAT), glutation-peroksidaze (GPX) i superoksid-dismutaze (SOD) u krvnom serumu. Rezultati su pokazali sniženu aktivnost CAT u serumu dijabetičnih mužjaka i ženki (HSHFD), dok se aktivnosti GPX i SOD nisu statistički značajno promijenile u odnosu na kontrolnu skupinu. Lijekovi liraglutid i metformin nisu pokazali značajan utjecaj na aktivnosti CAT, GPX i SOD u serumu dijabetičnih mužjaka i ženki tretiranih metforminom ili liraglutidom (HSHFD-Met, HSHFD-Lir) u odnosu na odgovarajuće skupine HSHFD. Postoje spolne razlike u razini oksidativnog stresa i aktivnosti antioksidativnih enzima. Lijekovi mogu promijeniti antioksidativni kapacitet više kod ženki nego kod mužjaka. Metformin i liraglutid smanjuju aktivnost antioksidativnih enzima kod mužjaka.

Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to insulin secretion disorder. Hyperglycemia promotes increased work of mitochondria and leads to increased accumulation of ROS that cause oxidative stress. In order to determine markers of oxidative stress and the influence of drug liraglutide and metformin on antioxidant enzymes in diabetic and obese rats Sprague-Dawley (SD), activity of catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPX) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) was measured in blood serum. The results showed reduced CAT activity in serum of diabetic males and females (HSHFD), while the SOD and GPX activities were not significantly changed compared to the control group. Drugs liraglutide and metformin did not show significant effect on CAT, GPX and SOD activity in diabetic males and females treated with metformin or liraglutide (HSHFD-Met, HSHFD-Lir) in relation to the relevant HSHFD groups. There are sex-related differences in the level of oxidative stress and antioxidative enzymes activity. Drugs may modify antioxidative capacity more in females than males. Metformin and liraglutide decrease activity of antioxidative enzymes in males.
