Abstract	Tema je ovog diplomskog rada prijevod i analiza kratkog romana Blokken nizozemskog autora F. Bordewijka. Unatoč Bordewijkovoj umjerenoj svjetskoj slavi, njegova djela još nisu imala priliku biti prevedena na hrvatski jezik. Ovaj diplomski rad stoga je prilika za upoznavanje hrvatske javnosti s ovim značajnim nizozemskim autorom. F. Bordewijk ponajviše se ističe svojim karakterističnim stilom pisanja te neobičnim, često simboličnim motivima. Prijevod takvog teksta stoga može predstavljati pravi izazov, budući da prevoditelj mora ujedno prenijeti neobičan izričaj autora, kao i sadržaj teksta koji je nerijetko simboličan i slojevit. U svrhu toga tijekom prijevoda upotrebljene su raznolike prevoditeljske strategije. Primjenjene prevoditeljske strategije razvrstane su i analizirane prema klasifikaciji engleskog lingvista Andrewa Chestermana. Analizom je dodatno utvrđena nužnost primjene takvih strategija za postizanje kvalitetnog prijevoda, odnosno prijevoda koje prenosi sadržaj, izričaj i namjeru autora izvornog teksta, a ujedno zvuči kao tekst ciljnog jezika.
Abstract (english)	The topic of this thesis is the translation and the analysis of the short novel Blokken by the Dutch author F. Bordewijk. Despite Bordewijk’s moderate fame, his works have not yet had the opportunity to be translated into Croatian. This thesis is therefore an opportunity to familiarize the Croatian public with this significant Dutch author. F. Bordewijk stands out the most with his characteristic writing style and his unusual and often symbolic motifs. Translating such a text can therefore be a real challenge, since the translator must convey the author's unusual expression, as well as the content of the text, which is more often than not symbolic and layered. For this purpose, various translation strategies were used during the translation. Applied translation strategies were classified and analyzed according to the classification made by the English linguist Andrew Chesterman. The analysis additionally determined the necessity of applying such strategies in order to achieve a quality translation, i.e. a translation that conveys the content, the expression and the intention of the author of the original text, but also reads as a text in the target language.
