Abstract (english) A well-chosen nutrition plan is essential for optimizing sports performance and promoting the beneficial benefits of training. Compared to the non-sporting population, athletes require higher amounts of energy, fluid and macronutrients (ie, carbohydrates, protein and fat) to sustain vigorous training and recovery and to support physiological functions beyond the energy demands of sport. Proper nutritional practices are essential because they affect almost every process in the body, from energy production to post-exercise recovery. In addition, individual dietary intakes may be influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and sources of nutrition information available for obtaining nutrition information.
Objective of the research: The objectives of the research in this work are to examine how much nursing students know about sports nutrition, to compare the number of points on the nutrition knowledge test between students and students, and to examine how students are educated about sports nutrition.
Respondents and methods: The research was conducted using a survey query in Google docs form for the period from September 1, 2023. until 15.09.2023. years. The data used in the research were obtained through primary and secondary processing of the topic. Primary source of data (survey questionnaire), secondary source (books, scientific articles). 86 respondents participated in the research.
Results: 48 respondents took part in the research, and more of them were female (64.6%). About 91.7% of respondents believe that it is necessary to exclude carbohydrates from the diet of athletes who want to lose weight. 91.7% of respondents confirm that chicken is a food rich in proteins. Less than half of the respondents know that complete rehydration after exercise is achieved by drinking an amount of liquid greater than the amount of water lost during training. Half (50%) state that they are educated about sports nutrition via the Internet, and 83.3% of respondents have never actively sought nutrition advice from a professional source.
Conclusion: Nursing students showed an average knowledge of sports nutrition. The minimum number of points achieved when filling out the survey questionnaire was 68, and the maximum was 91. Female respondents showed greater knowledge about nutrition with an average score of 82.45. Our results are consistent with research from Europe and the world, which show that students' knowledge of sports nutrition is insufficient, and that there is much room for improvement.
