Abstract
Tema ovog rada su funkcije izvodnice vjerojatnosti. Za početak ćemo se prisjetiti nekih osnovnih pojmova iz teorije vjerojatnosti, a onda ćemo reći nešto više o samim funkcijama izvodnicama vjerojatnosti. Definirat ćemo funkcije izvodnice, reći nešto o njihovim svojstvima, izračunat ćemo ih za razne diskretne distribucije, primjerice diskretnu uniformnu distribuciju, Bernoullijevu, binomnu, Poissonovu. Nakon toga ćemo ih iskoristiti za izračun poznatih numeričkih karakteristika (npr. očekivanja i varijance). Pokazat ćemo da je funkcija izvodnica sume nezavisnih slučajnih varijabli produkt pripadnih funkcija izvodnica.
Abstract (english)
The topic of this bachelor’s thesis is probability generating functions. We will start off by recalling some basic definitions concerning probability theory. We will define probability generating functions, state some of their properties, calculate them for various discrete distributions, such as discrete uniform distribution, Bernoulli distribution, binomial distribution, Poisson distribution.Then we will use them for calculation of numerical characteristics (for example expectation and variance). We will prove that the probability generating function of the sum of the independent random variables is equal to the product of those probability generating functions.
