Abstract	U radu je provedeno demografsko istraživanje suvremenih karakteristika Grada Krka. Većinu hrvatskog teritorija karakteriziraju negativni demografski trendovi, međutim Grad Krk među rijetkim je otočnim administrativno-teritorijalnim jedinicama koja ima značajniji rast broja stanovnika. Usprkos činjenici da Grad Krk bilježi imigraciju, sastav stanovništva po dobi i nije baš povoljan. Naime, udio starog stanovništva (>60 godina) iznosi čak 26%, iako starenje nije dosegnulo kritične razine kao kod drugih jadranskih otoka. Osnovni cilj rada je na temelju analize trenutnih stanja Grada Krka (tj. prostornih, demografskih i gospodarskih indikatora razvoja te stupnja centraliteta naselja) utvrditi čimbenike nastale demografske situacije te objasniti prostorni razmještaj naselja i promjene naseljenosti.
Abstract (english)	In the process of working on this thesis I conducted a demographic study of contemporary characteristics of the Town of Krk. Most of the Croatian territory is characterized by negative demographic trends, but the Town of Krk represents one of the few insular administrative-territorial units experiencing major population increases. In spite of the fact that the Town of Krk is experiencing a rapid rate of immigration, the population’s age structure is not favorable. The proportion of elderly population (>60 years) comprises 26% of the town’s population, although population ageing has not yet reached critical levels as it is the case on other Adriatic islands. The aim of this thesis is to determine the factors of the current demographic situation, as well as to explain the spatial distribution of the town and changes in population, based on the analysis of the current situations in the Town of Krk (i.e. the analysis of spatial, demographic and economic indicators of development and the centrality level of the town).
