Abstract	Na temelju objavljene literature i izvora autor daje pregled stanja i događaja na području istočne Hrvatske tijekom bitke za Vukovar 1991. godine. Autor donosi pregled narodnosnog sastava stanovništva na tom prostoru te konfiguraciju istog. Prikazane su postrojbe koje sudjeluju u bitci na svakoj od sukobljenih strana kao i događaji koji su se zbili u ljeto 1991. godine, neposredno pred bitku. Osim toga, autor donosi i analizira planove obiju sukobljenih strana posebice tijekom listopada i studenog. Razvoj bitke se može pratiti kroz rad u nekoliko etapa do potpunog okruženja grada u listopadu 1991. godine. U razdoblju kolovoz-studeni 1991. godine, kroz modifikacije u planovima i djelovanju snaga, prikazana je različita dinamika agresije na Vukovar. Na koncu rada su prikazane posljedice koju je bitka ostavila na svaku od strana u sukobu. U prilogu rada su predstavljeni službeni dokumenti iz razdoblja koje je predmet istraživanja, zemljovidi na kojima je prikazan obostrani raspored snaga te pravci djelovanja i planovi grada s ulicama u kojima su vođene najjače borbe za grad Vukovar.
Abstract (english)	Based on the published literature and sources the author gives an overview of the situation and events in eastern Croatian during the battle of Vukovar in 1991. The author provides an overview of the ethnic structure of the population in this area and the configuration of the same. Displayed troops taking part in the battle in each of the conflicting parties as well as the events that took place in the summer of 1991, just before the battle. In addition, the author presents and analyzes the plans of both conflicting parties especially during October and November Development of the battle can be traced through the work in several stages to complete environment of the city in October 1991. In the period from August to November 1991, through modifications in the plans and activities of the forces, showing the different dynamics of aggression on Vukovar. At the end of the work are shown the consequences that the battle left to each party to the conflict. Attached to the work presented official documents from the period that is the subject of research, maps depicting the mutual disposition of forces and courses of action and plans of the city with streets in which they guided the strongest fighting for Vukovar.
