U istraživanju su korištene Skala glazbenih preferencija (Butković, Vukasović i Bratko, 2010), Skala zadovoljstva životom (Pavot i Diener, 1993), Upitnik pozitivnih i negativnih emocija PANAS (Watson, Clark i Tellegen, 1988), Skala percipiranog stresa (Cohen, Kamarck i Mermelstein, 1983) te Upitnik o sociodemografskim podacima i slušanju glazbe.
Abstract (english) Music is a part of our life, so it is not an unusual claim that all people are musician beings (Sacks, 2012). Everyone prefers a different type of music and that's called music preferences. They represent the form of affective reactions to music and the choice of one kind of music genre over another (Kuhn, 1980; Sigg, 2009). According to previous researches, there has been a correlation between listening preferred music genres and certain aspects of well-being (Sigg, 2009), and it has been shown that listening to certain genres of music can affect a more intense emotional experience that may be related to experiencing stress (Thoma, Scholz, Ehlert and Nater, 2012). The aim of this study was to establish the relationship between the frequency of listening to music, the preference for certain musical genres and the well-being and stress in young people. A correlation analysis was conducted on 219 adults aged 20 to 40 and one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) to determine whether there is a significant difference in the frequency of listening to music between respondents in different fields of work. Study used the Music Preferences Scale (Butković, Vukasović and Bratko, 2010), Satisfaction with Life Scale (Pavot and Diener, 1993), Positive and Negative Affective Schedule (Watson, Clark and Tellegen, 1988), Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, Kamarck and Mermelstein, 1983) and questionnaire about sociodemographic information and frequency of listening to music. The research has established a positive correlation between the frequency of listening to preferred music genres and life satisfaction. The preferences and listening to certain genres of music (international classics, soul/funk and rock music and regional chansons) have shown statistically significant positive correlation with life satisfaction. It has also been shown that there is no statistically significant difference in the frequency of listening to music between respondents in different fields of work.
