Poboljšavanje kvalitete zahtijeva primjenu alata kvalitete, u cilju stvaranja ideja, procjene, analiza, prikupljanja i obrade podataka. Sedam alata za poboljšavanje kvalitete, prepoznavanje i analizu problema kao temelj korektivnih mjera su: Obrazac za prikupljanje podataka, Kontrolne karte, Dijagram uzroka i posljedica (Ishikawa dijagram), Pareto dijagram, Dijagram tijeka, Histogram i Dijagram rasipanja. U Sustavu upravljanja kvalitetom postoje dodatni alati koji imaju funkciju ispunjavanja zahtjeva kupaca/potrošača, te definiranje i sprječavanje problema odnosno poboljšavanje kvalitete. Postoje dva dodatna alata, a to su: Raspoređivanje funkcije kvalitete (QFD) i Analiza utjecaja i posljedica grešaka (FMEA).
Abstract (english) The concept of quality has now been expanded to include error-free production, continuous improvement and consumer focus. Therefore, there is a general definition of quality which states: Quality is a measure or indicator of volume that is the usable value of a product or service to meet the exact needs at a particular place and at a certain point, which means, when that product and service in the social process of exchange are confirmed as goods. In order to successfully manage the quality of the organization, continuous improvement is needed, and the organization should give importance to the customer. For successful quality management, it is important to involve all employees of the organization. In order to achieve the goals in the easiest way, a quality management tools has been developed. Tools are practical techniques, skills, resources or mechanisms that can be applied to solve problems or improve quality. Quality improvement requires the use of quality tools, in order to create ideas, evaluation, analysis, collection and processing of data. Seven tools for improving quality, identifying and analyzing problems as a basis for corrective measures are: Data Acquisition Form, Control Charts, Cause and Effect Diagrams (Ishikawa Diagram), Pareto Diagram, Flow Diagram, Histogram and Dispersion Diagram. In the Quality Management System there are additional tools that have the function of meeting customer/consumer requirements, defining and preventing problems or improving quality. There are two additional tools: Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
