Abstract	Duchenneova mišićna distrofija je progresivna, nasljedna neuromuskularna bolest od koje obolijevaju muškarci. Dijagnosticira se najčešće između 3. i 6. godine života zbog pojavljivanja simptoma poput proksimalne mišićne slabosti te poremećaja posture i kretanja. Kao rezultat mišićne slabosti dolazi do kontraktura zglobova, skolioze, smanjenog respiratornog kapaciteta te potrebe za pomagalima za kretanje. Pravilnom fozioterapijskom procjenom i intervencijom kroz tri stadija ove bolesti djeluje se na simptome i poboljšava se pacijentova funkcionalna sposobnost i kvaliteta života. U ranijim stadijima bolesti radi se na održavanju mišićne snage, gipkosti tetiva i spriječavanju kontraktura, a kako bolest napreduje bitno je raditi na održavanju vitalnog kapaciteta. Liječenje Duchenneove mišićne distrofije je simptomatsko i uvijek završava smrtnim ishodom, a u održavanju što bolje kvalitete života bolesnika osim fizioterapije koristi se i farmakološka terapija te kirurški zahvati.
