Abstract	Rad se bavi kanibalizmom, s naglaskom na brazilski kanibalizam. Daje detaljan kronološki pregled razvitka brazilskog kanibalizma, od prvih susreta s njim u 16. stoljeću. Cilj je smjestiti ga u razne povijesne kontekste koji su utjecali na njegovu promjenu definiranja. Povijesne kontekste ćemo prezentirati kroz zapise Hansa Stadena i svećenika Družbe Isusove te književna djela. Kanibalizam se pojavljivao u književnim djelima u četiri faze, koje je potrebno prezentirati za potpunije dobivanje povijesnog konteksta. Osim toga, rad se bavi pitanjem kako je kanibalizam kao metafora utjecao na stvaranje brazilskog identiteta nakon oslobođenja Brazila od kolonijalne vlasti. Rad se također bavi pitanjem kako su antropološki tekstovi prikazivali kanibalizam i osobe koje su ga prakticirali kroz vrijeme te daje kratku kritiku istih tekstova. U radu je cilj pokazati kako je znanost antropologije mijenjanja pod utjecajem studija o kanibalizmu te kakav je utjecao imao na metodologiju koja se danas koristi za proučavanje kulturnih fenomena.
Abstract (english)	This paper concentrates around cannibalism, with an emphasis on brazilian cannibalism. It strives to give a thorough chronological review of development of brazilian cannibalism, since first encountering it in 16th century. The goal is to place it in different historical contexts and show how they affected the different ways it was potrayed. Historical context will be portrayed through works of Hans Staden and the jesuits. Cannibalism was also frequently used in brazilian literature. Its use goes through four phases of development, which are necessary to present in order to get a more complete view of development of thought on the subject. Besides that, this paper dwells on the question of how cannibalism as a metaphor impacted the way brazilian identity was formed after Brazil gained its independence. The paper also deals with the question of how anthropological literature portrayed cannibalism and its participants throughout history and gives a critical look at those same texts. Goal is to show how cannibalism influenced the changes in anthropology and the methodology used today in research of cultural phenomena.
