Abstract Diplomskim radom prikazano je značenje Međunarodne skijaške organizacije (FIS), njen nastanak, djelovanje i razvoj, pravila organizacije natjecanja, sponzorstvo i podrška natjecateljima, te sankcije i organizacija rada skijaških sudaca.
30.000 sportaša i sportašica.
FIS do- nosi odluku o prihvaćanju kandidatura i uključivanja u kalendar događanja.
Abstract (english) The diploma thesis presents the meaning of the International Ski Organization (FIS), its origin, operation and development, the rules of organization of competitions, sponsorship and support to competitors, and sanctions and organization of the work of ski judges. The International Ski Organization was created with the aim of connecting national ski organizations, and today it manages ski sports and various disciplines. Its headquarters are in Oberhofen, Switzerland, the president since 1998 is Gian-Franco Kasper, and over 30,000 athletes are its members.
The paper explains the types of competitions in alpine skiing under the auspices of the FIS, as well as the FIS calendar, which shows all the events in the ski season. Individual disciplines are described, ie downhill, super-giant slalom, giant slalom, slalom, alpine com- bination and parallel competitions, and rules related to the competitions and competition equipment.
Special focus is on the organization and rules of FIS ski races, divided according to disciplines in alpine skiing. National ski organizations can apply to host the World Cham- pionships. In addition, they can apply for inclusion in the calendar of events (organization of races in individual disciplines). The FIS decides on the acceptance of candidacies and inclusion in the calendar of events.
The whole procedure of organizing a ski event according to FIS rules is presented in detail. It is clearly defined who can be the organizer, what is the candidacy process, all the obligations and responsibilities of the organizers, the rules for licensing participants, the role and work of judges, their responsibility in such competitions and their tasks. Various electronic rights are used in competitions, advertisements on competition equipment, and there are also rules related to sponsorships, and possible sanctions are prescribed in case of non-compliance. There is visible progress in the organization of ski races, through the de- velopment of new technologies, which really make it easier to maintain them.
It is shown what is all required for the National Ski Federations and organizers to hold one big competition.
