Abstract	Freoni, što je skupni naziv za fluoro- i kloro- supstituirane ugljikovodike, spojevi su o kojima prvi spomen seže u prvu polovinu 20. stoljeća. Zbog nekih svojih, gotovo iznenađujućih, svojstava – primjerice netoksičnosti i nezapaljivosti – brzo su našli primjenu u industriji, poglavito kao rashladna sredstva u hladnjacima. Ipak, već je desetljećima poznata i njihova posredna štetnost za okoliš; kemijsko reagiranje takvih spojeva s ozonom u Zemljinom omotaču proizvelo je dalekosežne posljedice za ekosustav. U završnom će radu biti načinjen prikaz povijesti spojeva poznatih kao freoni i njihova (nekadašnja) primjena. Posebna pažnja će biti posvećena prikazu hazarda povezanih s takvim spojevima.
