The era of decorating homes, which continues until today, begins with the Industrial revolution and the separation between work space and the space for a pleasant family life. With the help of their homes individuals express their taste and creativity. The subject of this research is the social effects of designing a home, and the aims are to explore the differences between women and men in terms of design and decoration, to explore the relationship between decor and decorating and inviting guests, and the impact and importance of friends during and after designing and decorating. All hypotheses are confirmed, as well as the fundamental one that will show the importance of social aspects in planning and decorating homes.The results show that men and women perceive home variously. Decorating and investing in their home decorations are more important to women than men. Examinees who take care about decorating invite more often guests after renovating. Examinees who consult their friends consider the opinion of guests as very important to those who do not. Furthermore, most examinees receive guests in their living rooms which are usually decorated. Most examinees are advised by their own families. The internet is the most popular media for gathering information about decorating.Overall, examinees consider home and decoration as very important, they are glad about advices, but the opinion of their guests is not of great importance. They perceive home as a private place to express their desire and taste of household members.
