This paper attempts to highlight the importance of impact that the position in the family has on the social and emotional development of child. Child developes under different circumstances and the relationship with parents has the major role in its development. Relationship with parents, therefore attachment with parents, has a great impact on child's social and emotional development. Since the child is the closest to the primary guardian, it is essential for such love and affiliation to be mutual. Attachment is a major factor influencing the future emotional ties the child will establish. A child who, at the earliest age is not satisfied on the emotional level, may feel worthless, devious and neglected. Also, relationship with the brothers and sisters as well as the order of the family has a strong influence on the social and emotional development. A first-born child is responsible, conscientious and intelligent. It is an example for younger children and often takes on the role of a surrogate parent. A middle child is also an "invisible" child. It has to fight with both the firstborn and the youngest child for their parent’s attention, and that is why they may feel left out and neglected. A middle child is talkative, persistent, but rebellious. A youngest child is mostly privileged and its parents are usually mild to perform with it. This child is ingratiatingly but sometimes spoiled. From the above-mentioned facts comes the conclusion that child development is a complex process that requires a lot of effort and time, so it is necessary to provide factors that will enable the child to develop properly in every sense.
