Sažetak (engleski) | Aim: Aim of this research, based on the Department of Cardiac Surgery of University Hospital Split database, is to determine if there is a difference between operational risks for cardiac surgery patients in summer and winter period using the EuroSCORE 2 scoring system. Methods: In this retrospective study, 353 patients were included which were operated in winter and summer period at the Department of Cardiac Surgery of University Hospital Split from 2011 till 2015. Data on EuroSCORE 2, age and sex of the patients were collected and statistically analyzed.
Results: Average EuroSCORE value, which we expressed as arithmetic mean and standard deviation, was 6,16 ± 9,79. In winter period average was 5,90 ± 9,47, and in summer it was 6,42 ± 10,13. A statistically significant difference between two said periods was shown (p =0,0198). Average age was 65,85 and it was shown that there was no statistically significant difference in patient's age between these two periods (p=0,85716). From a total of 353 patients 76 of them were women (21,53%) and 277 of them were men (78,47%). There was no statistically significant difference in sex distribution between two periods.
Conclusion: According to EuroSCORE 2 results that we got, we can conclude that operational risk, when we are referring to patients of University Hospital Split, is higher in warmer summer months than in winter. A study has shown that there was no statistically significant difference in age and sex distribution between these two periods. |
